Pain Happens For Us

If there is anything I have learned it’s that we choose what our realities are.

We can allow our pain, our heartache, our failures, or our mistakes to define who we are. We can become a victim to the experiences we “didn’t deserve” and align with the hurt. We can pity ourselves, retelling the same story over and over again, and live in the reality of whatever and whoever broke us.

Or we can shift our perspective. We control the narratives of our own lives. We can allow things to happen to us or we can allow them to happen for us.

What we think and talk about are what we give our energy to. We can choose to continuously talk about what broke us or replay the negative thoughts in our head, but giving energy to our hurt holds us there. It holds us in that negative mindset and allows us to hold negative beliefs about ourselves.

Pain is a teacher that is meant to help align us with what is truly meant for us. It works in our favor. It’s time to stop allowing our pain, hurt, and sob stories to happen to us and let it work for us.

I have learned from the mistakes I made. I aligned with my pain, my sob story for a good portion of my life. I allowed the things I had no control over, to control the narrative I created about myself. But what has happened to me is not who I am. It all happened for me. To put me back on the path to what is truly meant for me. I allowed my pain to strengthen me and now, I let it go.

Life is too short to hold onto our traumas. We can miss out on genuine happiness, peace, and love if we sit in our pain too long. The pain we experience is meant to build us. It is meant for us. Be grateful for it because it’s an opportunity to learn more about ourselves. But the way we navigate through the pain is where our power lies. The longer we hold onto the narratives that no longer serve us, the longer we are pushing away the things that are meant for us.

Our reality is determined by what we give our energy to. Allowing ourselves to sit with our pain, learn from it, and then heal through it is when we learn how to truly be alive. We have the potential to unlock anything and everything we want for ourselves. If we learn from our pain and allow it to work for us, we give ourselves permission to move forward and closer to what is truly meant for us.
